Beginners Guide to self-publishing direct with ebook Retailers

Beginner's Guide to Self-publishing direct with ebook Retailers

Self-Publishing Retailers

There are multiple ways to approach your ebook distribution setup. In this series of articles about self-publishing retailers I’m presenting the core information you need to be familiar with in order to make the decision of which retailer you want to go direct with. You can’t go direct with every retailer out there, but there is a set of five retailers you have the option of distributing your book directly with them, or accessing their network through a aggregator.

You can go direct with all five of these retailers, which means you get to keep more of your book royalties, or you can just pick one, two some of them to go direct with. It seems like an obvious decision to make, and you may be wondering “why wouldn’t I go direct with a retailer?” But there is more to consider than just a 10% increase in royalties.

We’ll review all the relevant information to be aware of before working with the following five primary U.S. retailers:

  1. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing

  2. Kobo Writing Life

  3. Barnes & Noble Press

  4. Google Play Books

  5. Apple Books

If you have any questions about going direct with any of these ebook retailers, leave me a comment below or send me an email.
